TOYNEWS SUBMISSION: The Philippines-based artist John Eugene Avila AKA JEAA (artofjeaa.com) sends toy-word that he'll be participating in the upcoming TOYCON PH NEXUS art toy event this June 12-14, 2026 at SMX Manila Philippines, where he'll be offering up the TOYCON Nexus Limited Edition "ROBOX" Release!
PRESS: Robox — a handcrafted urban art toy, like a painting brought to life on three-dimensional watercolor paper/board. The design is based on the "ROBOX" urban paper toy created by JEAA, first released in 2007.
The "ROBOX" character is a derivative of a digital artwork titled "99 Lives," which was exhibited and featured on local television channels and later published in the book Law for Art Sake. "ROBOX" won toy design contests at TOYCON Philippines in 2008, 2009, and 2010. It was also exhibited at the TOYCON PH Gallery under Urban Toy Design PH — the first art toy group at TOYCON PH dedicated to promoting local art toys and toy designers in the Philippines. The project aims to inspire and promote the creativity of Filipino artists, showcasing to the world that Filipinos are equally capable of producing world-class art and design.
