Artwork For The Jizo by Yukinori Dehara Available Now
Folks interested to score some uniqu-sculpts from Japanese artist Yukinori Dehara's The Jizo show @ Giant Robot Los Angeles are advised to log unto www.gr2.net for items listed online (since June 9th @ 2pm PST),, which also happens to include other goodies like "Biennale Ledavhara Resins" (collabos with David Horvath).
Event-pics are also viewable via GR Transmissions (as well as the automatic slideshow update in my previous preview post here) as well as GR-head honcho Eric Nakamura's impressions of the show here. The Jizo exhibits thru July 7th 2010, so do pop by 2062 Sawtelle Blvd. Los Angeles if you have the chance.
WHAT-IS: Dehara's inspiration is the Jizo, the Buddhist divinity who protects the departed souls of deceased children, babies, and unborn fetuses, whose likeness can be found in cemeteries and on roadsides in Japan. In Dehara's words, these statues are "Japanese stone angels.”
