Exclusive-Reveal of Customs from Zam for "When Worlds Collide" @ Screaming Sky Gallery (Feb 24)

Truth be told, I came upon Zam's art slightly late in the game, having the opportunity to interview the gentleman and eventually meeting him for CLEA in Thailand (as well seeing his work up close), early-September 2010. I was in silent thrall of the Zen master (he is Mine), not just because of the way he conducts himself, or of the calming effect he tends to exude given longer periods chatting with the man, but of the sheer groundedness he possesses, and his relation to people and folks around him.

Clearly one of the chillest folks I have had the fortune to meet, and by that I do not mean he is a "meek" fellow, no! He reserves his fervent passion for his art (or so I surmise) and this can be clearly seen in his custom toys completed for the upcoming February 24th launch of group art show "When Worlds Collide" at Screaming Sky Gallery.

We have the utmost honor of exclusively revealing a series of superb hand-paints, that showcases an aspect of Zam's craft and art, as well the aforementioned "passion", clearly etched in these "faces" of toy figurines … "This collection of figures represents the haunting souls of past Asian arts."

The simple folds of an intricate origami.
The well polished allure of a geisha.
The calculated swiftness of a samurai sword.
The simple beauty of a hand-crafted kokeshi.

All art dies.
Some linger.
Some perish.
But eventually all meet their demise.
