SUPER PLASTIC Signs with Amazon to develop Janky & Guggimon

SUPER PLASTIC's virtual influencers and chaos agents @janky and @guggimon have had their time in media as In-Game Characters, and flashed their pearlies as lifestyle brand collaborators (including Gucci, Mercedes-Benz, Tommy Hilfiger, Christie’s, J. Balvin, Vince Staples and more), and generally pimping Super Plastic's releases since SP's inception in 2017 ... and now comes news that both of them might become stars in Amazon’s next Prime Video original series!

Variety.com reports that Amazon Studios has inked "first-look TV, film deal" with firm that designs "synthetic celebrities".

"Under the first-look deal, Amazon Studios currently is in early development on “The Janky & Guggimon Show,” featuring Superplastic’s two most famous synthetic celebrities. Per the companies, the show follows the adventures of “two lazy and spectacularly incompetent best friends who are hell-bent on getting rich and famous but leave a trail of chaos and destruction in their wake.”"

All of which reminds me immediately of "Beavis and Butthead" (I've lived thru their heydays in the 90s lol), and wonder what direction this project will take, considering the animation aesthetics and visual styles versus "content" (it would be self-explanatory and on-brand with what they have presented themselves to be thus far, no?) ... but perhaps this would be too early to anticipate or speculate, innit?

Creator Huck Gee weighs in on the situation (via his Facebook-post):

"...this achievement was the result of the very hard work of the entire amazing team at Superplastic. I left the company mid last year but am still vested in the company and its success. And above all else those are my character designs that are about to explode onto a screen, so it's quite awesome to see this all come together like this."
