Welcoming JULY today, as we edge closer to the end of "2024", feeling like it's more of a "deadline" than just passing of days, no doubt the result of multiple looming dated-tasks I need to achieve, both personal and professionally. Realising too I'd spent the last week attention deep in KPOP Girl Group NewJeans, who debuted in Japan, along with collaboration with Takashi Murakami and the multitude of merch borne from it, which frankly fascinated me, as much as San Diego Comic-Con used to enthralled me when I started blogging about "toys"...but I digress, as I usually do :)

Fueled by nostalgia and the joy of hand-held gaming, this held up a mirror to NewJeans' ongoing nostalgia-themes in their sonic and visual aesthetics, which started in the Y2K, and now venturing back to the 90s' New Jack Swing with their latest sJapanese debut release: "Supernatural" (which I'd feature the music video for, seen below), and feeling wondrous that it both (A) throws'back to the days I've lived thru, and (B) Allows current generations of folks to experience a sliver of what we (AKA "similar aged folks like myself") had lived thru, and enjoyed, the existence of which might not be acknowledged for even forgotten ... which in a way too speaks about the appeal of "toys" in the first place ... a slice of our "childhood" which we missed, or simply did not own, until we are able to, in our adult-lives, IMHO.
