SADAKO as a BISHOUJO Figure by Kotobukiya

They made "Sadako" (from "Ring") into a BISHOUJO figure statue?

Celebrating it's 15th Anniversary, Kotobukiya has Shunya Yamashita redesign the Japanese horror icon into a 6.69" (17 cm) tall ABS+PVC statuette, currently pre-orderable exclusively on side.show for SG$223. ETA "September 2025".

Mind you, the intensity of Sadako's iconic single eye stare thru her long hair has since been soften, and making her floating form sexy while "floating" on a bed of twisted VHS unwound tape, is quite an inspired choice, IMHO. Would you mind if this incarnation crawls out of the television set at you...? LOL

WHAT-IS: "In Japanese popular culture, a bishōjo (美少女, lit. "beautiful girl"), also romanized as bishojo or bishoujo, is a cute girl character. Bishōjo characters appear ubiquitously in media including manga, anime, and computerized games (especially in the bishojo game genre), and also appear in advertising and as mascots, such as for maid cafés. An attraction towards bishōjo characters is a key concept in otaku (manga and anime fan) subculture.". (Wikipedia)

Kotobukiya has been producing BISHOUJO statues, sometimes depicting gender-swapping of popular media characters (Transformers Optimus Prime and Ghostbsuter), most times anime-fy and sensualizing the cuteness of female characters (Marvel Comics' Black Widow and White Phoenix). "Sadako" joins the "HORROR BISHOUJO" line, which also includes Freddy vs Jason and Chucky & Tiffany!

Oh, you don't know "WHO" Sadako" is? "Sadako Yamamura" is the main antagonist of Koji Suzuki's "Ring" novel series and the film franchise of the same name, including the 1998 feature film which had me seeing the apparition everywhere I went after watching the movie (true story) and the 1999 sequel "Ring 2", followed by a string of J-films, as well South Korean adaption "The Ring Virus" (starring Bae Doona) and the 2002 American film "The Ring" (starring Naomi Watts).

The gist of the film(s) are, you watch a specific cursed video tape, whereby you will receive a phone call, and you will die within 7 days. I will not show you HOW you die (If you don't already know by now), but will instead share with you the contents of the VHS! Remember not to puck up any phone calls after watching this, okay?
