majulah stickapura

:: DESIGN / LIFE IN SINGAPORE / GO LOCAL ::
i've always had a fascination with stickers planted across town, most times on power-junction-boxes, walls and signposts ... and unfortunately remain ignorant still; about their origins and originators, most times taking for granted their existence and leave it at that. as faintly-familiar as i am with Obey Giant's intrusion/immersion (see how mass-pop-culture i am? *bleh*) into the collective subconscious of urban-dom, we/i pass these lil stickers and bills with nary an afterthought, altho admiring the graphics on the surface level. and i pretend not to understand fully the movement nor attempt to know its true "local" origins ... someone point me the right direction, please? *heh*

> found this (quite catchy): The *Majulah Stickapura Series 3 movement, as initiated by 1819SuperMovement and launched by/@ Rojak.
(*Majulah Singapura = is the title/name of the country's national-anthem :p)

participants are asked to produce 10-slides (30 seconds' duration each) of their work, which in turn documents a/the creative process of a recent/upcoming work/project. a line-up of 10 artists/creatives has already been "listed" and is slated to "premiere" on the 10th of March @ 72-13 (Mohamed Sultan) = go catch it if ya can, yah? might even see me there snapping obtrusively away :p

go read what the 1819Supermovement is about (who are intent to keep the sticker-movement alive and kicking in singapore) and see the exceptional collection of the local sticker-movement here = *great stuff* :)
