Kim of threezero had this to say about the toy's genesis: "I had a chance to see some paintings of Nathan's and I loved them very much. So I proposed to Nathan to make some toys. We chose his painting, Candy Colored Clown to transform to a 3-D toy." For me - a character of dubious intentions performing amidst the surrealistic macabre carnival of thy mind, is a sweet notion indeed, flickering nightlite timed to the pulpating beat of the heart = *coolness*
The toy is a combination of materials such as roto vinyl, ABS injection plastic, as well as fabric clothes and electronic device (*neato*).The light is actually functional, based on a on/off switch at the bottom of the figure (methinks tis beneath the cloud-form?). Further product info is currently still pending, but be sure to stick with TRE for further developments, yo!
Nathan is currently having his solo art show "Way, Way South" @ La Luz de Jesus gallery - where the toy is 'supposedly' on display. (can't seem to find any event pics online tho / someone grab a video of the lights going on-and-off please!). Do check it out in person if you can. The show exhibits thru October 31st, 2008.
(cheers to Nicho, Sjors & Scott for the headsup!)
