Upcoming New Toys on TOYSREVIL (Jan/2/2011)
TOYSREVIL is always on the lookout for new toys coming our way, as well as new toy companies who will make great toys, and stay the course. In the first week of 2011, we take a look at four new figures - two from a Singapore-based company with international stars, a follow-up to an exciting new mini series, and a webbed-feets "elemental" prototype!
Do feel free to hit me with news, easer-info and images at toysreviler@gmail.com! Can't blog about it if I don't know about it, folks - thanks!
New Singapore-based toymakers Pobber unveils MR HUMPHREY MOONCALF featuring character design by Doktor A. Released as part of their "Clumsy Monsters" series - the 8 inch tall figure is currently scheduled for a mid-January 2011-release (due to a "custom detaining issue") - this Pobber-exclusive Verdigris-Edition figure includes a cool removable cranium + brain, and will be the first of different editions.
Very distinctive "Dok-A-characterization", I have to say. No quantities, price nor availability details are known to me at the moment but no doubt this'll be something to look forward to in 2011, I say!
And speaking of "looking forward to", I'm personally interested to know more about Pobber's second release (also teased on www.pobber.com) = "MORK" - with a Jeremy Madl aka MAD sign-off! Do check out MAD's custom MadLs for a little insight into the characterization of the teethy-guy with a cool cut-thru hat...
We've seen sculpts of VanBeater's CRAPPY CAT MINIs [tagged] - now check out a colored prototype, along with a trio of body character-designs, and box art! How "mini"? Try 2.75 inch tall figures, sporting 6 points of articulation - in a total of 16 designs to collect? If this is not the independent vinyl minis to look forward to in 2011, I don't know what is!
THis here's a "rare" glimpse behind the scenes offers a view of David FOOX's Elemental Badger Prototype No.2 - 100 sets of which (5 Elemental Badgers per set) are scheduled to be released 1st quarter of 2011. Individually handpainted, named and numbered, you can actually pre-order them here for US$1,250 per set (25 sets available). Weird, can't seem to find the size of these figures …
"The Badger: In an ancient Welsh tradition (Druidic), the badger was shut in a magic sack and beaten with staves by Pwyll in order to extract wildly varying fortunes. The badger being the lucky animal of fortune"
