as i wuzrummaging cruising down the retro-highway, i came across this blackfilm.com report [via monkeypeaches] = whereby my "pathetic-lack-of-current-news-coverage-apologies" gave in to *shock* of the news of an updated MOVIE-version of Miami Vice!
*GASP*
and hoping that Gong Li's role as Isabella ain't gonna be just another "token oriental" role; "cuban/chinese"-inclusive, is all :)
Collin Farrell is Detective James 'Sonny' Crockett, while Jaime Foxx is Detective Ricardo Tubbs = which is all good and such ~ just please wear socks this time, pleeeeeeze?
as "Sonny", Collin F's looking mighty angsty in them online pictures, sure as heck as he ain't gona be the flirty/playboy persona of the telly-series, and sure as Jaime F's ain't gonna be no jive-talkin'-"Tubbs", innit? ... altho i've got to say: that i've always "admired" that the two characters never did appear during the opening titles of the tv-show ... *heh* :p
anyways, this pairing reminds me loads of (the MIchael Bay directed) Bad Boys (with Will Smith+Martin Lawrence) ~ only this time there ain't no two african/american-partners/dudes ~ tis one a/a-dude and an anglo, even if he is Irish ... which is hardly ever an issue (never had been, so don't start, cool? thanx), seeing that Collin's been a Macedonian and set to be an Englishman, innit? ~ bad-boy or not, i like the actor, both of them and can't wait to catch this when it comes out ... complete with Jan Hammer's tv-theme = updated to heavy-rawk-version, no doubt! :)
