michael lau 2006 (part two)

and while there is no doubt at all (in my little toy world) that Michael Lau was instrumental in developing my desire and fervor for casual/streetwear 12"-figures and urban designer vinyls ~ tis his "in between figures" that had left me high and dry, as a fan and collector (circa everything between CC-ABC to SFCC) and had me confounded and disillusioned then ... and t'was until the 6"-Gardeners (Sqaure, Miss et al) came out again in 2004, did i start lapping up his stuff (tho at a slooooooow-pace) ... and with now seeing his 12"er-glory back? (i know that sounds so darn wrong forgive me) i couldn't be more pleased :)

check out his Nike HongKong collaboration details over@Freshness [via VA]

"[GARDENER MEETS NIKE] is a 3-dimensional presentation of NIKE’s [SPORT MEETS CULTURE] theme. All 106 GARDENERS are dressed in NIKE06 winter outfits, head to toe. The focus is on [HERITAGE RUNNING], from NIKE’s Sport Culture series."

images of his "new" 12"-ers on my multiply [images via+via], including a coupla dodgy wooden-"crash test dummies", which borders on either provincial slackdom and/or heavily veiled genius = whassup wit dat dude?

seems Michael Lau is "making a comeback" in a big way, innit? *coolness*

  1. i reckon they are IKEA-woodies or even artist's wooden "articulated models"! unless someone confirms that they are actually made of vinyl recast, then i'd send some respect his way ... *ahem*

Dr.Greensworth agrees that most probably the base model for Gardeners are Barbi'e Ken-bods! with modified hands from either GI.Joe figures and/or 21st Century 1/6th figures :)

can anyone tell me otherwise? we'd all want to know really kekekeke :p
