brandt peters x mindstyle's slap happy! and mr muggles @ sdcc 2007
i was thinking how particularly apt that MINDstyle is releasing Brandt Peter's Mr. Muggles & Slap Happy! as a 2-Pack Exclusive Monotone Version for SDCC - specifically when it fits so perfectly into Brandt's retro-black+white paintings, IMHO
[paintings featured via/via] limited to 200-sets @ USD$129.99-per, look for the sets to be split-up between SDCC and @ the Urban Underground Project [via] ... intrigued with both Slap Happy! and Mr. Muggles' origins, i asked their creator, Brandt Peters how they were both conceptualized, and this is what he had to share (cheers for the trouble, Brandt!):
BRANDT: "Slap-Happy! on the surface is semi-based on myself... Even as a kid - I was drawn towards a more romantic approach to "darker" subject matters - Halloween, Masks, Ghost Stories, El Dia De Los Muertos, Zombies, etc... Iconically, at the same time he represents a loss of innocence - to be cute yet at the same time a little dark - a world we all live in simultaneously and can relate to. Mr. Muggles is similar in concept but loosely based on my two dogs, Bailey and Diego..." = *coolness*
