forsooth! about that mighty thor movie

and so The Mighty Thor is being optioned for a live-action feature film now (from Marvel Studios), with director Matthew Vaughn (Stardust, Layer Cake) at the helm [via] and script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell) ... and im wondering; is he gonna be dressed as the old skool Thor? or new military-ish-style in the recently revived Thor-comic?

the story-synopsis thus far [via AICN]:
"This isn't a Donald Blake, doctor on vacation story. Instead, this is a genuine TALES OF ASGARD story. In the first few pages the creation of everything takes place... the origin of the gods, their universe and how midgard (that's are place in the universe) came to be ... It has Thor and Loki as brothers - the best of friends... and it shows how that goes bad. The origin of the uru hammer, Thor being thrown from Asgard to being a mere mortal... it's a HUGE story - easily the most awesome script that a MARVEL project has ever had."

of coz this'll end up as a trilogy (as all pop-culture genre properties eventually evolve into, in this modern age, dunnit?) - with Part One being the Origin Story (going all-LOTR!) ending with Thor ending up as mortal Donald Blake on earth ... Part Two will be Thor's Adventures on Earth which will bomb badly and ends with him joining The Mighty Avengers! ... Part Three will have Thor fighting to regain Asgard (with the help of the Avengers, 'natch) , who'd been lost to evil forces allied with Loki ... i can wish, right? *HAH*

frankly, im not too keen on the Thor-On-Earth scenario - Norse mythology works not well with modern cellphones and skyscrapers, IMHO - as much as i used to read Thor (especially during the Walter Simonson-period) i don't know if this'll work in the modern-context, like a Gladiator-in-New-York sorta vibe? grasping-at-straws, i am :p ... anybody (old enough *cough*) remembers the Eric Allan Kramer-Thor in The Incredible Hulk Returns? *shudder*

... altho one things' for sure, throughout any incarnation celluloid-Thor will go thru, the "language" will always be a kicker: "Forsooth! I Say Thee Nay!" -ahem*- and of coz, his hammer Mjolnir is going to be the centerpiece of the whole merchandizing / marketing lore, innit? *heh* ... personally, i liked the Ultimate Thor-scenario better - where folks thought he was a lunatic with delusions-of-Godhood! like, speaking to fellow Norse-Gods in restaurants, where there's nobody there etc (quite a cool mindfcuk tho LOL) - but of coz in the end, it is proved that he was/is a God :)

WHO IS THOR?

"Thor (often called The Mighty Thor) is a superhero appearing in the Marvel Comics universe. Based on the god of the same name from Nordic mythology and created by editor-plotter Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and penciller Jack Kirby, he first appears in Journey into Mystery vol. 1, #83 (Aug. 1962). The uncredited initial inker was Joe Sinnott." [wiki]
