for sure this isn't Takashi Murakami's first collabo with LV, as seen from this Japanese TVC (shown above/via) for a previous handbag collabo (anime produced by KaiKai KiKi Studio)
"It’s been officially confirmed that a corporate LOUIS VUITTON shop will be situated smack dab in the middle of TAKASHI MURAKAMI’s forthcoming retrospective exhibit at LA’s MoCA (Oct 29—Feb 11), the appropriately named “© Murakami.” A first for an American museum, the company owned and run shop will offer limited-edition handbags and small leather goods featuring Murakami designs including the ones shown below at prices ranging from US$875 to US$920." im a "branded-goods-philistine". i believe in "branding" (or the "spirit / intent" of), but that doesn't necessarily mean i believe in paying huge wads of cash on it. the only "branded" items in my life (besides toys, hah - and by that, i mean "most-amount of-money-spent-on") are my tatty Adidas-kicks (can count on less than 3 fingers) and my Swatch watch ... it's all a numbers-game anyways, numbers i cannot physically afford, and might not, even if i do have the finances, no disrespect to the designers and creators involved, mind.
the preoccupation of obtaining "brands" as a mark of status is one of the many Singaporean-pursits which disgusts me (as much as some folks might think of our pursuit of designer vinyls, init? HAH) ... but of coz all this sounds like sour-grapes ... hell, i wouldn't know for sure, becoz i've not had the opportunity to have money to burn, innit? *heh*
