about hasbro's 2008-release for 1/6 g.i.joe: a real american hero
i've been looking over the list of upcoming-2008 release-plans from Hasbro on CoolToyReview [via] - of which particular interest is their 'G.I.Joe 12" action figures', particularly with their live-action G.I.Joe-movie (NOT that they've mentioned any dedicated-lines in reference to that, but im taking it as a given, innit? :p)
frankly, i don't think i've ever bought a "proper" 1/6th G.I.Joe-figure (by that i mean the RAH-comic-adaptation-line) and from what i've seen on-shelves (in the recent past) and online, i sure hope Hasbro is planning to "upgrade" the figures, what with the amount of sheer detailing and mind-boggling articulation produced by current market shakers (ie: Hot Toys, Takara etc) - understand of coz Classic-G.I.Joe/RAH-fans may bulk at that notion, personally i hope there will be at least some semblence of "evolution", dunnit? (IMHO, of coz :p)
... but then again, why would they need to have to "compete" with the rest, when their primary focus is on the kiddie-market? (as opposed to "kidults" like me *cough*) - altho the current trend in boy-toys has gotten pretty darn intricate (eg: Transformers), and i for one can only hope they'd be able to release 1/6th figures which are of higher-quality (compared to the past) but with "economical" price-points = great for kitbashing possibilities, i reckon! LOL ... meanwhile, here's a trio of 1/6-kitbashed/customed figures pilfered from OSW's RAH-forum-section to drool over (and "hope" that the new releases may perhaps "match-up"? *heh*)
Snake Eyes by Unforgiven5150 (circa 2007)
Snake Eyes by Dave70b (circa 2006)
Snake-Eyes has always a popular-dude, yeh? = *cool*
Cobra Crimson Commando by Alyasha (circa 2003!)
utilizing an existing 1/6 Cobra Commando-headsculpt, no less = *kickassawesome*
... wait! i lied. i DO have a couple of G.I.Joe-figures! ... but they're from the 1992 Hall Of Fame-series (Duke and Snake-Eyes!) ... the feeling of nostalgia is bittersweet ... *heh*
"A Real American Hero will once again be visiting the 1/6 scale action figure market with both a basic series and a deluxe assortment. Collectors can expect many of their favourite Joes and Cobras represented in this line."
