The annual Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention - otherwise know as the PHILIPPINE TOYCON - is in it's 7th year this 2008 and is set to happen June 14th to 15th (10am-9pm) @ the SM Megatrade Hall 2 and 3 of the SM Megamall building B. "It's hard to imagine seven years worth of pure, unadulterated joy brought about by a shared love for things. Simple things, like a comic book, a basketball card, a plastic toy action figure, a Matchbox car or an old 80's die-cast robot. And yes, the Philippines has had its share of pop-culture for the past seven years with the annual Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectibles Convention.
And this year, the level of excitement has accumulated seven-fold, as fans of all things playable and collectible converge once again at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong to enjoy two days of sheer hyper pop-culture. It's a blast of the latest toys, handheld and web games, film and animation, graphic art and design, movies, music and costume play. Mixed in are highly-anticipated events like the Philippine launch of Batman: The Dark Knight Movie and major toy company product displays like LEGO, Stikfas, and Dig Deep Entertainment. And of course, the crowds all come to get their choice of thousands of different items to fill in the gaps in their collections, or to gawk at the colorful and flashy costumes meticulously prepared for Cosplay, a thrilling costume parade which is the highlight of each year's Toycon.
