coraline: the movie & behind-the-scenes featurettes
Oh dear ... do forgive me, for I have been remiss in providing a proper explanation / detailed description of What CORALINE Is (before I go any further with revealing the "Coraline Gift Box", innit? heh). I blame my quad-middle-age giddiness for this lapse, but I giddily-digress ... onward & forward! ~ but first, the movie trailer:
CORALINE is an animated stop-motion fantasy film based on Neil Gaiman's novella of the same name (published in 2002). Directed by Henry Selick, it is scheduled to premiere in 2009, February 6th. Currently you are able to watch ALL the behind-the-scenes featurettes on their movie website @ www.coraline.com - by keying in the password: "OTHERWORLD". "With production and animation by LAIKA [www] - Coraline is the first stop-motion animation to be shot stereoscopically with a dual digital camera rig for digital 3-D exhibition." = Sounds nifty - altho I pretend not to fully understand the technicality of the process - but nevertheless am nigh-keenly looking forward to this flick, not least becoz my lurve for Nightmare Before Christmas (which Henry Selick helmed) and also that Singapore's been pushing for 3D-movie integration into local cinemas / theaters as of late (ie: cheaper ticket prices = whooH00! ... yes, I am a cheap-sod LOL)

CORALINE (The Film) tells "the story of a young girl, Coraline (Dakota Fanning), who unlocks a mysterious door in her new home and enters into a parallel reality, a fantastical and thrilling imitation of her own dull life. In this world, Coraline finds a new version of her real mother (Teri Hatcher) and father (John Hodgman), her off-kilter neighbors, Miss Forcible (Jennifer Saunders), Miss Spink (Dawn French) and Mr Bobinski (Ian MacShane), and the Cat (Keith David). However, this other world soon begins to unravel and she becomes a prisoner to her Other Mother and must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home."
