WHAT-IS: The Gardeners begun life as characters in a comic strip published in East Touch magazine (from Hong Kong). They were meant to be ordinary folk and street-skaters living life, decked out in urban street wear. The earliest incarnation of the Gardeners in 3-dimensional toy-form was "Happy Gardeners"; 12 inch tall G.I.Joe figures with felt hair and goatees in street wear. That soon evolved to a series of 101 individual Gardenergala figures with names and characters of their own, whom in turn also evolved into designer vinyl figures in the Crazy Children / Crazy Smiles series - for which Michael has been deemed "The Godfather of Hong Kong Designer Vinyl" (or variation of).
