Jason Siu & Touch Co @ Taipei Toy Festival 2009 (TTF 1/6)
Designers Joe Lo (of Touch Co) and Jason Siu (of Monkey Playground-fame) snips at their own speed and beats to the rhythm of their own drums with decidedly non-traditional 1/6th-scaled projects for the recently concluded Taipei Toy Festival 2009 - where both creators shared a booth and we have images for a closer look = CLICK THRU :)
Designer Joe Lo of TOUCH Co. offers up as new figure in his “Live Hair Salon 1 & 2”-series with "James Ip" from the Touch Hair Salon (Ver.001) - limited to 30pcs. [First blogged about here]. Tagged price is NTD 6,800 for the figure, and NTD 2,200 for the chair. Would like to know if the 'fro is rooted or detachable tho ("inquiring minds" and all that :p).
Am intrigued with this release, as it does not follow any particular "trend" - although somehow the "Fashion" aspect seems to be in line with, say, Animal Homme's male models, as much as Paul Leung's mohawked-Daniel may even be styled by "James"? "Coincidence" in my mind, perhaps? LOL :p
On display was Jason Siu's MONKEY PLAYGROUND "Brown" with bongo - hand made first edition of 20 pcs with a SRP of US$180 (excluding shipping) - which you can attempt to purchase online via Jason's shop (Paypal). This may seem non-eventful compared to the boom-boxes turntables and other musical gadgets/props of earlier Monkey Playground 1/6 urban-folk releases (of which I personally own a few and totally dig!). Perhaps one man's rhythmic beats is another's man's white noise ... :)

What would perhaps be wicked-cool is the addition / inclusion of different percussion instruments - so that the guys can form their own percussion group like Wicked Aura Batucada - and can encompass + embrace even Eastern musical sensibilities? (Samba Reggae + Bhangra seen below) = *Fun*
