Loups-Garous Anime by Production I.G. / About All-Girl Rock Band SCANDAL

Japanese animation powerhouse Production I.G has adapted into animation "Loups-Garous" (a manga/novel from Natsuhiko Kyogoku originally published in Japan in 2001) with a theatrical release in Japan from August 28th, 2010.

World-hit TV series Blood+ helmer Junichi Fujisaku directs the movie, and the all-girls rock band SCANDAL contribute the music and are effective part of the story concept. Check out their official movie website @ http://LG-ANIME.com (in Japanese).

Besides the trailer posted above, do CLICK THRU to find out more about LOUPS-GAROUS, and the all-girl group SCANDAL ~ who ironically brought my attention to this anime in the first place. And there's nothing quite like a group of kawaii ladies dressed up in pseudo-Japanese schoolgirl uniforms, rocking out to catchy tunes (no matter how "otaku" it may make me sound like lol).

FILM-STORY: In a near future, the world's population has decreased dramatically due to a deadly virus that terrorized the whole planet. Now people eat only synthetic food and tend to avoid as much as possible any form of physical connection or "real contact" with living creatures. Real shops have disappeared from the streets, and with the exception of the community centres (what were once called schools), people communicate with each others exclusively online. But even in this tightly controlled and systematized society, there is a group of young girls who actively pursued real contact. And when a string of brutal murders emerges, their challenge to this closed world is just about to begin. [Text via Production I.G.]

About SCANDAL:
Formed in 2006, SCANDAL [www.scandal-4.com] is a Japanese rock band from Osaka, composed of four girls, Haruna, Tomomi, Mami, and Rina, all of them high school students at the time. They are hugely popular among animation fans as their song Shojo S (June 2009) became the tenth opening theme for the TV series Bleach. The song ranked #6 in the Oricon chart. SCANDAL proved their international potentials with a tour in the United States in March 2008. [Text via Production I.G.]

In 2008-09, the girls of SCANDAL were turned into animated characters with short Web-Anime via flash movies debuting online, which dealt with "untold" episodes of "how SCANDAL was formed and other incidents SCANDAL faced!" [Info]. Check out this link for previous episodes, with Ep 11 the only current movie viewable online (in Japanese, no subs).
