Valentines Day on TOYSREVIL

Tis February 14th this fine Singapore Monday, and guess what?

Thinking back, there never seem to be a Valentines Day I had never celebrated or partaketh of, all those long oriental "don juan" days of misbegotten yore, before a self-imposed celibacy singledom, changed my world-view, some semi-odd five years ago (gawds I need a hug now). Seemed every V-Day consisted of over-priced flowers, more over-priced dinners, and if I could swing it, I would cook for my beloved (at that time, and for whomever dared sample my wares). And who could ever forgo Valentines cards? (I drew mine, thanks). Folks in coupledom sure could be "creative", if they decided to get off their love-clouds, and the challenged the world, I reckon!

These days I look around and smirk at others who splurge at necessaries to placate their collective beloved, and try not to tear their hair out in the act. But far be it me being a love-scrooge, I'd realized that 4,262 Facebook "Likes" and 3,163 Twitter followers later (am still working on my Feed :p) - seems I may not be "loved" at best, but at the very least I am not disliked!

For beloved couples on such a day like today, have an awesomely pleasant day today! And for single folks, there is someone you can love (with no fear of being requited) - LOVE YOURSELF this day! Go grab a good grub! Catch a movie by yourself (and don't forget popcorn)! Buy yourself something nice (just not flowers, please) and Love and Respect Yourself, even if tis only for a day (best is 365 days, but I'm not here to preach). Happy Valentines Day, Folks!
