> movie baton

a looooong-overdue baton by Ah9 ahahahaha ... thot t'would be good to liven things up abit around here (not that anyone cares, innit? HAH) ... and of coz, i'd just go slightly over-board with this lah! :p

Total Number of Films I own on DVD and Video:
KAOS, i dvd-whore .... so letz just say, i gots plenty of bootleg legit dvds :)

The Last Film I Bought:
the 6th movie i made; Rice Rhapsody (VCD)

Five Films I Watch Alot/ Mean Alot To Me:
hhhmmm.... letz do it MY way, shall we?

Five Keanu Reeves Films I Like:

(1) A Scanner Darkly
altho i haven't watch yet (itz not even released yet! HAH), but a "cartoon-keanu" is too good to pass, innit? heh :p
(2) Constantine
most becoz tis a comic movie, and Keanu did a pretty decent job, if ya ask me :) (also didn't make me cringe as much)
(3) The Matrix Trilogy
okay, maybe just the first one ... subsequent ones actually did make me *cringe* ... but just a little lah ... :p
(4) Speed
macho-man wif little words and lottsa action ... what keanu is supposed to be good born to do, IMHO :p
(5) Little Buddha
eh, dun laff okay! i lurve this movie! ... heh... even Keanu who talked funny ... but a decent effort anyways :)

Five Comic-Book Films I Love:

(1) Blade Trilogy
a kick-ass vampire~killer (okay, quite lame at some points, but i lurve vamp-movies lor) from a C-Grade/Level comic book character ... a cool coup done well and right. 'nuff said :)
(2) The Crow
the original first one, with the late Brandon Lee ... in what was the quintessentially the comic-movie that made goth ~ glam, in the 90's. wif an indie punk twist, no less ... a cult fav and also my personal fav ...
(3) Batman Returns
Tim Burton'S warpoed-glam-goth-vision + Michael Keaton's manical~Batman + sexy Michelle Pfiffer's (spl) sexy Catwoman + Danny DeVitto's extremely perverse Penguin = cult classic. and what was the only "dark-batman" anybody could ever achieve. IMHO
(4) Spiderman 1 & 2
becoz Kirsten Dunst is HOT. hey! tis the female lead that maketh the movie, innit? ... heh ... okay, fine, the movie also quite the closest and "purest" to comicbooks ...
(5) Hellboy
becoz it rawks and it is as close to a comicbook-adaptation as we're gonna get ... indie-comic somemore!

Constantine might even have made the top-5, but i let him slip-in above already ... heh :p

Five Japanese Anime Films I Love:

(1) Spirited Away
have always been a fan of his movies, but this particular one tugged at me so, the themes of love and friendship and perhaps even "alientation" and/or "loneliness" is something that is dear to me ... *sob*
(2) Ghost In The Shell
it rawked my world, man! showing the blissful marriage of traditional cell-anime with the CG-world ... simply delish!
(3) AKIRA
what else can i say? from drooling over the comics, to the actual anime-offering before my teenage-eyes ... a cyberworld so ingrained in my mind and memories; i sometimes still live in it ...
(4) LAIN
technically NOT a "movie", but a mini-series, but like i give two-hoots! HAH ... an exceptional cyber-"horror"-tale, that belies any genre, other than it's an "anime" ... good shitte this.
(5) JINROH
knocked me off my cutesy-anime-senses, with seemingly "real-life" depiction (in a weird sense lah) ... and of coz, as toys action-figures, they rawk too. heh :)

Five French Films I Adore:

the top-3 films are by the same filmmaker; Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

(1) Amelie
for the magical whimsy and dreamlalaland that we dwell in, the innocence denied us; made reel here ...
(2) Delicatessen
extremely delish visually and the story quirks until you'd not believe ... *very french*, as i would be known to say ... and this film single-handedly brought me out of the celluloid-dark-ages; especially when it came to "french films" :)
(3) City Of Lost Children
fuggin hell, man! i peed in me pants again and again and again watching this ... *sigh* ... sadly someone had absconded away with this lil gem of mine, da muthafcukah ... and im left drooling at the $80-version in HMV ... *double-sigh*
(4) La Haine / "HATE"
truly in-yer-face hardcore tale and vision of inner city youth as seen thru stark black and white images. wakes you up, it does.
(5) La Femme Nikita
a Luc Besson classic, the era when women weren't "heroes" ... and in this, Nikita establishes her own formidable corner of the universe ... and of coz Luc Besson's moves and vision was ripped-off infinitum thereafters ... :p

Five Tim Burton Films I Love:

(1) Nightmare Before Xmas
ya kidding me right? you've all seen this, right? master-work by the master ... :)
(2) Edward Scissorhands
magic wif a tinge of sorrow and snowflake-tears ... lovely ...
(3) Batman Returns
okay, i cheated and repeated this again. i like.
(4) Sleepy Hollow
for the simple horror and story Burton could afford ... and for the headless horseman nyaknyaknyak :0
(5) Ed Wood
becoz it was simple ridiculous and hilarious! b-movies rawk! muahahahahahaha :p

Five Visually Stunning Films I Love:

this was a hard-fight, seeing as there are so many kick-ass ones that both awed and inspired me... but we'll make do with these random~5 :)

(1) In The Mood For Love
simple for the mature and delicious mood and visuals ... *yummy*
(2) The Cell
visuals to blow.your.mind. truly ... must watch to believe ...
(3) Casshern
my onyl regret was not being able to watch this on the big screen ... and even on my 14"miserable tv-screen in my bedroom, i shed tears watching this dvd ... tears, i tell ya!
(4) Moulin Rouge
for the pure ostentatiousness (spl) and decadence of this musical ... i like ...
(5) Tears Of The Black Tiger
a Thai-film that is a visual splendor, in terms of its treatment and kitschiness that overwhelms the movie somewhat, but im not complaining much here, innit? heh :)

*phew* ... and that's about if, for now ... might come back and re-visit sopme ol' favs, innit? and as for passing this baton to someone else, nnaaaaah, i'd rather keep this free and easy ... heh :)

seeya at the movies! :)
