an axe to grind

:: COMICS ::
i've never been truly a big-fan of Thor ... altho i did enjoy his "existence", if only for a "short" run when Walter Simonson helmed the comic and when John Romita Jr drew it ... other than that, were but smatterings of random purchases here+there ... and t'was no big surprise when i managed to missed out on the "Death" Of Thor event ... do gods *truly* die?...

and now i read with trepidation of the re-emergence of a new "god" ~ a God Of War; ARES.

now, the dude ain't "new", he has been around; most times as the bad guy ... but now he's back, has a young son to fend for and lives in the suburbs ~ like, WTF? ... but tis cool ... i trust Michael Avon Oeming (writer) ... have always enjoyed his Powers-comics and even the early Hammer Of The Gods ~ and am sure the dude knows his mythologies... :p

ever since my virgin brush with 2000AD's Slaine The Horned God (admittedly, moreso the art of Glenn Fabry+Simon Bisley, 'natch ;p) and the fascination with Celtic Lore (not less tattoo-art) and thereafter every conceivable legends and mythologies, across different planes of reality or non-reality ... and altho i claim not to be an expert in alla these, i dare say i enjoy my myths, so woe betide whoever screws with it ... i'll just not buy your comics then!

*muahahahahahahahaha-ahem*

and from what i see of the preview art pages, artist Travel Foreman rawks hard! (im afterall, still quite the artist-based comicbook-collector :p) = and as sure as i'll pick this book up! :)

check out an interview with Foreman and commentary on his drawings @ newsarama.

am liking the mohawk a tad too much for my own good (as long as it ain't purple like Gladiator's, innit? :p) ... altho it doesn't really work with guns and a flak-vest, dunnit? *hhhmmmm*

*of coz im being picky lah!*

*heh*
