popular toys of the last century
:: TOYS ::
a list of the most popular toys of the last 100-years! [via a gonzo journal] - altho tis a list i may disagree with, but tis worth the mini-ride down memory lane ...
1900-1909 Crayola Crayons
this is just pure *sad*, innit? IMHO, of coz :p
1910-1919 Raggedy Ann Dolls
apparently still going pretty strong too ... quite the century-stayer, innit?
1920-1929 Madame Alexander Collectible Dolls
eerie; IMHO :p
1930-1939 View-Master 3-D Viewer
i remember this very well! a kid's eyes watching the world go by (and no, i wasn't born when they invented this, duh! :p)
1940-1949 Candy Land
have no effin'-clue what this was.
1950-1959 Mr. Potato Head
i can't seem to recall if ever i had one, or if the one i had was obliberated upon first-play and never to be put back together "whole" ever again ... hhhmmm ...
1960-1969 G.I. Joe
i own none of these vintage figures (and dun really fancy them), but i sure as heck can appreciate the "original G.I.Joe"! (12-inch "action figure" mah *heh*)
1970-1979 Rubik's Cube
i only ever managed to complete only 2-sides; in all my attempts ... am i dumb? (*bleh* :p)
1980-1989 Cabbage Patch Kids
and yes, sadly i remember them too ... and again; no - i've never had them ... *shudder*
1990-1999 Beanie Babies
thankfully i steered clear of them ... *heh*
2000-present Razor Scooter
WTF?
i reckon this is a list based on "commerce", rather than actual "playability" (much less "nostalgia") ... otherwise how would one explain what happened to them Carebears? or even Strawberry Shortcake? no Matchbox Cars? or even Playmobil? no Ultraman in the list too? or maybe someone will do up an Asian Top Ten Toy List, eh? ... *hhhmmmm*
i wonder what was in the Top Ten of 2005, innit?
