on the life of designer/futurist; 90 year old Jacque Fresco. [via]
looking beyond the retro-futuristic-designs and cheesy-corporate video muzak (*urgh*) of the trailer, t'was Mr.Fresco's words which humbled me so:
"when you try to think about the future, remember this; the process with which you think about things is based on indoctrination given by a society, so your range of thought is limited by the dominant values of your society.
we talk about civilization as tho it's a static state and there are no civilized people yet, its a process thats constantly going on. when all you have is war, police, prisons, crime, you're in the early stages of civilization, what they call civilization.
all the marvels of wonders and technology can amount to nothing, unless it elevates humans to their highest potential. this is the aim for a future by design."
