a glimpse into the possibilities: mazinger-z vs transformers
:: DESIGN / RETRO ::
what Michael Bay said in this video, stuck with me the day - "i'd only wanna make the Transformers movie as realistic as possible" (paraphrased) - and then i thought = dude, tis giant transforming robots crashing down the city streets fighting other giant transforming robots ! how realistic can it get? - and no, im not a MB-hater, but to rationalise that while depriving fanboys of their recognizable Transformers is irresponsible, IMHO. but then again they are "revolutionizing" and/or updating the franchise with newer designs innit? coz at the end of the day, tis about "the franchise", innit? anyways, tis isn't a bashing-post, but more of the "possibilities" of "what could have been" ...
now, if the new Transformers-movie could have as cool a visuals, while still utilizing old-skool (G1) mecha-designs, as shown in this here Mazinger-Z image (done by Jose Liebana and found here) = i'd be quite the happy retro-robot-fan, i will. *heh*
