mindbile moments: what type of webmaster are you?

:: WWW ::
thru some bizzare occurance and/or suspected online power-play-conspiracies has hastened me to rage unto this entry, so do bare with me please ~ if not, please do move on to the other nifty posts i have here - don't worry, i wouldn't think less of you for it :)

what type of webmaster are you?
pertaining to the information, news and pictures posted online, in this scenario: TOYS.
(*pls note: toys not of your own creation and/or you are selling commercially, mind)

i reckon there's 3 basic catergories:
01. the border-hoarder
02. the transit-spirit
03. the vinyl-crusader

The Vinyl-Crusader:
01. someone who champions the toys they post about. information-dissemination is first and foremost the most important thing here. shout-out to thy high-vinyl-heavens, the spirit of sharing is strong!

02. links to everyone who was involved in the post, from the providers to the information givers, to the images they are taken from. the network is wide enough for everyone. heck, without them, thy webpages would be empty, innit?

03. use my images and info? fine, go ahead! altho it would be nice if the users give a link-back tho - if not, it doesn't really matter, we're bigger than that.

The Transit-Spirit:
01. toys? love 'em! altho not all of them, but posts toy-information and leaves it to the readers/viewers to decide for themselves. share to show you care, innit? we're all "the fellowship of the vinyl", aren't we?

02. basic-link to all parties involved in the creation of the post. give credit where credit is due, as long as no arses need kissin' nor names being sullied by thinly veiled posts like this one you're reading *ahem*

03. it's only decent and courteous if a link-back is provided. if not, just give a friendly reminder to perp. hey, it's about spreading the word of Toys and not about site-hits personal gratification, innit?

but then again, there are enough hits to go around, aren't there?

The Border-Hoarder:
01. self-proclaimed passion about the toys and their designers/creators, but "share"? only if it's exclusive to "my site" and no one else's. becoz i is the originator of the "information" and it is your treat to come visit my site in the first place kneel before Zod!

02. no credits need to be given for for information gathered, "becoz it's not theirs' to post in the first place" ~ but woe betide anyone else who uses their images and info, regardless of link-back or not. and link-back need to have the website's name spelt in full. if not, their self-worth is diminished. failure to comply will result in emailed rudeness, cyber-fences erected immediately and users blocked. c'mon, you deserved it.

03. my information is my own and belongs to me. i've worked hard to attain them and pay for the opportunity to have them. so bugger-off sunshine and
go look for your own news-crumbles elsewhere.

and so, what type of webmaster are you?

extreme, you say? how much do you recognize of your online dealings in there? all or none? does it matter? ... for in the end, tis (only) about easy access to information that did not belong to them in the first place, innit? tis about sharing the toys and a little thank-you to the folks who originated the info in the first place isn't it? does it need to become "personal"? but im sure folks might have encountered varying levels of the abovementioned (as extreme as i make them to be, sometimes it is the case) and as i strive to leave behind my info-hoarder-days of yore (ashamed admittedly) and settle down comfortably as a decent information transit-platform (while grudgingly ignoring blatant leeches and trying to not engage in hoarder-border-skirmishes) and sadly realize that mayhap i'd not be able to attain the spirit of the vinyl-crusader (yet) ... or maybe i shouldn't "try" too hard, innit? not as if i make a living out of this blog (like other folks do, or rather their actions liken to them having their business pilfered), innit? *heh*

itz all about the toys, ladies and gentlemen, itz all about the toys ... :)
