of play imaginative's 1.5-inch kongs and mini-figure trends

this new series of 1.5"er Trexi Kongs is scheduled for a 18th Jan 2007 release and "...can be used as a Keychain, Handphone Strap, MP3 Strap or a bag accessory. It comes with a handphone strap (string based), a hook that is attached to a clip, packed in a clear printed polybag with a card." [via/via]

which reminded me of a forum topic on VinylAbuse, where the question was: "Mini figures... the way forward?" = small versus big, toy versus art, how would the current trends veer? (go read + participate now, go ;p)

and to add to my long twaddle, while perhaps the bigger vinyls would be looked upon as "art" (eventually), mayhap the smaller/mini-toys would cater to and veer toward and/or create more of a "lifestyle-trend", IMHO ~ as seen from Keychain-Qees and the recent Baby Treeson and the varied "functions" of this 1.5"er Kong:

no longer do they just sit on the display shelf, now they can be a part of your everyday life too (altho this has been the case for japanese/manga-based merchandise for years now in the East) what do you think? *heh*
