i have with me a delightful Amanda Visell-designed "A Robot Wants My Lunchbox"-lunchbox (courtesy of Dark Horse) and im surprisingly pleased as punch, i am :)

a simple, no fuss metal box, with an emboss of Visell's drawing on the lid/cover, one-way hinge and a clasp to keep the lid shut tight, and a handy handle for easy carry along (altho seeing a 37-y/o bearded chinese dude swinging it around as he saunders down the street is a somewhat strange thing to see, i'll take my chances LOL) ~ with the charming beatnik retro-ish images rendered by Amanda Visell, im sure folks'll give me a bit of leeway, in terms of "creative attitude", innit? wouldn't it? ... *bleh*

in the fall of 2005 La-La Land Gallery in Los Angeles held a custom lunch box exhibit featuring over 30 artists. visitors to the gallery's website voted on their favorite design from the exhibit. and they have since been produced by Dark Horse in 2006:

featured artists/designs: Gary Baseman / Joe Ledbetter (signed for USD$18 here) / Greg Simkins (aka. Craola) / Shag / Kii Arens / Niagara - there's also a Coop-designed lunchbox that's not part of the initial Hot Lunch series, but is just as cool :)
