1/6 american custom figure symposium

a shiver of excitement coursed thru my aged body when i read this just: "One day. 120 custom figures. 20 of the best customizers from the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 8 of the leading figure manufacturers with exclusive figures just for the show. 25,000 square feet of space to roam and over 50 of your favorite retailers. All in 1/6 scale glory!" [via]
The American Custom Figure Symposium (official website) is a show completely dedicated to the customization and collection of the 1/6 scale and 12-inch action figure hobby. Created by the collector and for the collector, the ACFS showcases some of the most talented customizers of the hobby. It is completely free to the public and held in Silicon Valley, California once a year. The ACFS show is segmented into three very distinct areas of the hobby.
01. The Customizers = 20 extremely talented guest customizers (includes: Alyasha, Gaiagear, FiguremasterLes, Arianne02, Kelly’s Heroes, DarthCallous, Anti-Personnel, Customdawg, Dan Chung, Greydeath, Phantom11 and more) will have their work displayed for viewing, which includes 1 made exclusively for the show. and an exceptional draw would be that some will hold live tutorials! = *uber-schweet*

02. The Exhibitors = the show promises to focus exclusively on the 1/6-scale hobby, with an exceptional (IMHO) laundry-list of well-known and nigh-respected (indie) "labels", including: BBI, ACE, Toy Soldier, Triad Toys, Toyrrific, Soldier Story, Merit International and more.

03. The Tutorials = "Guest customizers will be doing live tutorials at the show" - and that's all i need to read and know (peep programming here) ... and dammit i won't be there (*le sigh* unless some kind soul sponsors me LOL)

held annually for one day only, the ACFS 2007 show is scheduled for SEPTEMBER 1, 2007 at the Santa Clara County Convention Center, 5001 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara, CA 95054, (408) 748-7000 = from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m - with admissions completely free to the public (registration is required on site tho)

*two primary reasons why i am excited for this particular show / after the JUMP*

REASON.01 = i recognize most (if not all) of the folks on the list, particularly the customizers, whom i've had the utter pleasure to view their works on OSW (who is sponsoring the show as well - well done!) and have long admired: Alyasha, Gaiagear, Anti-Personnel and Customdawg (cheers Leo and Louie!) - and admittedly, that warms my 1/6th-heart quite a bit :p

REASON.02 = the tutorial component of the event is nigh-excitable, to be able to see folks "in-action" :)

on a personal note, i've told some folks that one of my "dreams" this year (2007) is to have a 1/6th show in Singapore, abetted a small, intimate one - with a chance to "showcase" some of my 1/6 stuff (regardless if they are amateurish or not LOL) and at the same time, be able to introduce folks to the sheer possibilities of the hobby, as well as breaking down some misconceptions and mayhap be able to gather some folks to do tutorials/live-demos as well ... the trick being folks are primarily into 1/6-military here (which isn't really my area of "expertise" LOL) ... but then again, who knows? ... *heh*
