medicom toy's 1/6 kenshiro from fist of the northstar

priced @ 18000yen and coming in November, Medicom Toy is slated to release a 1/6 Kenshiro from Japanese manga Fist Of The Northstar / "Hokuto No Ken" [via]

"Fist of the North Star (北斗の拳 Hokuto no Ken) is a manga series that was originally serialized from 1983 to 1988 in Shonen Jump, created by Tetsuo Hara and Buronson ... Set in a post apocalyptic world where the Earth is barren and the strong survive by preying on the weak, the series follows the journey of Kenshiro, the successor of Hokuto Shinken (北斗神拳, "Divine Fist of the Northern Dipper"), a secret martial arts style that allows its practioner to destroy an opponent's body from within by striking into vital pressure points, often resulting in a violent and gruesome death (as the series was notorious for). based on a muscled RAH301 body, the bulk and likeness of the manga are captured in this prototype sculpt to-a-T, IMHO. the figure also comes with 5 kinds of "hands": the fist, the hand sword, the key hand and the piercing hand = all the better to pose Kenshiro in his destructive best *LOL* [peep list of characters and their skills here]

my first encounter with Fist Of The Northstar was decades ago (literally!) when i came across mandarin-translated comics digest "reprints", and i remember being totally blown away by the sheer brutality of the artwork and violence depicted (having only been weaned on PG American super-hero comics and Chinese martial comics) and needless to say, it was both refreshing as well as an enriching experience, at least for the opportunity to open-up to the varied genres of comicbooks, IMHO.
