Variety.com [
via] has just confirmed the live-action "
Luchadores 5"-movie [featured
here]:
"Producer Pierre Spengler has confirmed that "Luchadores 5," to be directed Michael Olmos, will be the first movie to emerge from his 12-pic deal with European comicbook publisher Humanoids ... (the) project, scripted by Adrian A. Cruz, is based on the comicbook series "Lucha Libre," written by Belgian author Jerry Frissen and drawn by French artists Bill and Gobi ... Set in East Los Angeles, it's a comedy about five Latino wrestlers who form a masked vigilante group to clean up their neighborhood."
VinylAbuse interviews Bob Silva and
Jerry Frissen (of
Muttpop) about the upcoming live-action movie adaptation:
"VA: How close will the film follow the stories from the comic and what kind of rating are you going for?
Bob Silva: Some concessions had to be made to successfully bring the mood of the project to film. What works wonderfully on paper doesn’t always look great with living, breathing actors on celluloid.
The characters are the same but context was brought to the film to help educate the viewer about the rich world of Mexican Wrestling. Instead of assuming that the audience would know the subtleties of the Culture that we were paying homage to, we found a way to introduce them to its nuances while still building upon its rich history and making a damned funny film!"
= sounds good, becoz if what we know about
Luchadors is via
Nacho Libre? then we might be in a bit of trouble, IMHO ...
*LOL*
