vexille
who also did the title-track for Appleseed Ex Machina) which actually features
more visuals of mecha + battle-scenes than the trailers themselves LOL
first impression when i watched the VEXILLE animated movie trailer in the cinema last week just: "daymn it looks like a manga-ish arcade-game drawing rather than a full-on CGI flick" .. but i reckon i've been "spoilt" by hyper-realistic-CGI to miss the beauty of anime (IMHO) ... regardless, in terms of "tonal depth", this seems way darker and mayhap surpass Apple Seed (One, not Ex Machina - still waiting to watch this gggrrrr) which too was produced by the same team! but frankly, that may be an unfair assessment based on visuals from a single trailer ... but who am i gonna find to go watch this with me? ggrrrr ... meanwhile CLICK ON for movie synopsis, images and trailers :)
PLOT: Japan, 2077: A female agent named Vexille is dispatched to Tokyo to investigate whether the Japanese are developing robotic technology, which has been banned by the U.N. due to its potential threat to humankind." [wiki]

i caught it too when it was out, i was actually hoping for a more complex plot when they unveiled tokyo....hoping to see some grand army of cyborgs (since the cyborg scene in the beginning looked promising).
ReplyDeleteTurns out...sigh...wasteland and a docile little ancient tokyo. oh well... :P

ReplyDeleteim a sucker for jap animation, even 2d ones.
i was hoping the story plot could be more complex and perhaps more action, since cgi almost nothing is impossible to render nowadays.
the first 20 minutes were like having me on the edge, after which once she discovers tokyo...slowly went abyss and unrecovered. Could have been more...
in other words...satisfied yet something missing. hahahaaha
