hanna-disappera by apeman of triclops studio (for limited edition, march 14)
NAME OF ARTWORK:
Hanna-Disappera : The Extinction of Childhood Cartoon Characters
NAME OF ARTIST:
Apeman aka Rob for Triclops Studio
STORY OF ARTWORK:
I wanted to do some artwork for this exhibition ( not cause I'm sick of toys or customising, I just fancied doing something different ) which would catch the eye, plus dare I say be original ! The idea came from a love of Hanna-Barbera cartoons and the scene from Back to the Future when Marty's family start to disappear (from a photograph) as his parents fail to get it together.
PURPOSE OF ART: Limited Edition show @ Go Go Plastic, Birmingham [tagged]
Well there's two artworks available (Touche Turtle is one - for the other you'll have to check the show... or our blog) on postcards, so I guess they'd make nice... postcards ! Plus, there's a one-off framed piece, which would look nice hanging in any lounge, studio, shed, toilet !
PRICE OF ARTWORK:
Both the postcards (only 19 sets - 2 postcards in a set) and the one-off framed piece are for sale... the postcard are £1.50 ( for a set ) and the framed piece is £25. It's a great cause so I hope people splash the cash - it's not as if they're mega bucks :)
ARTIST'S MESSAGE TO THE WORLD:
To raise awareness (and hopefully money) of Endangered Species around the globe I decided to ‘erase’ some of my favourite Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters to highlight how whack these fantastic cartoons would have been if certain species of animals were extinct and therefore not around for Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera to ‘draw’ inspiration from.
