the dark knight @ medicom toy exhibition 2008

TDK-BEARS

Right about this weekend, seems Japan is THE place to be for toy-collectors, what with the International Tokyo Toy Show 2008 currently on @ Tokyo Big Sight [tagged] and now images of Medicom Toy Exhibition 2008 @ Parco Factory [tagged] are starting to filter-in down the cyberhighway - with this current crop showcasing a sweet selection of The DARK KNIGHT movie-themed figures! ... Inevitably, comparisons between Hot Toys' TDKs and Medicom's offerings (specifically in 1/6th) will crop up, and frankly without even a need to take a side, consumers are spoilt for choice now, regardless of raised prices (on all toy-fronts) so really, it all boils down to "Quality" and value for money, IMHO. (hey, dun be looking at me, I ain't got squat to spend - whaddaya think the TP on my table's for? LOL *cough*)

TDK-BRICKS

You've got the TDK KUBRICK & BE@RBRICK sets (above), you got the 400% Why So Serious-BE@RBRICK, you got (Christian Bale) Bruce Wayne and Batman (in DK-armor) and Heath Ledger's Joker in RAH 1/6th-scale? C'mon folks! gimme a chance to catch my cyber-breathe, yo! ... altho frankly, I can't help but pray and hope these figures somehow make their way to the Singapore Toy & Comic Convention next weekend (c'mon folks, ya can't blame me for being wishful and delusional, innit? heh) ... needless to say, CLICK THRU for moooooooore!

MEDICOM-TDK-1

MEDICOM-TDK-2
...that looks a pretty decent Bat-armor fit, IMHO - and the
Joker's coat (looks fleece) drapes pretty decent too ... can't
say much about Wayne pin-strips tho (the sleeves bug me LOL)

  1. Have to say that I prefer the look of Medicom's Batman over the Hot Toys version - there's just something odd about the Hot Toys Batman neck, and it seems an overly caricatured version of Christian Bale.

The Joker figures are harder to make a decision on as they're both really neat.

  2. will get the hot toys one definitely. I would say medicom batman looks more screen accurate , but nevertheless, the hottoys batman looks better (since the pictures from TDK may show that batman looks a bit weird... IMO..) for joker, hot toys hands down man ... wht the hell is that fleece thingy.. it's too bulky ... and don't forget folks.. medicom's quality has been going downslope... also remember the price we are paying. We pay alot and thus we deserve at least a VERY GOOD action figure (unlike some crap put out by dc )

  3. bighatdino = chunky-necks! and a tad too long too, IMHO

long-necks work great when there's vests and gear to be put on a figure (military genre) so the dude doesn't look like a no-neck-turtle when the gear is up, but a "nekkid" figure (sans gear but wwith a cape) looks totally weird, IMHO

but the HT-Bale sculpt looks good tho - then again, can see much of Medicom's Bale - and hell, both are via online pictures LOL

chiang: im with ya - altho if given the opportunity, i'd gotten BOTH company's figures for a side-by-side! (but alas, no money, no toy-honey)

i asked myself, if i was given the dc-direct fiogures free, would i take them? answer is YES (becoz im cheap that way LOL) but to pay for them? ... actually, if i cant afford Medicom's or HT's, i may be the sap that'll take it, just to get a piece'a the action ...

    that's sad, i know ... LOL
