entering hall 603: day two @ the singapore toy & comic convention 2008
And while I'm struggling with 160MBs of data-transfer, my Man-On-The-Con-Floor Marc Wee provides us with a "Live" commentary on his adventures in trying to enter Hall-603 = venue for the inaugural Singapore Toy and Comic Convention 2008!
...........................REPORT BEGINS...........................
11:05AM
MARC: 2 Queues from one end of the hall to the other just for registration.
11:20AM
MARC: Just made a u-turn into the main line. Slight confusion as to what line is for what. Hopefully this line is to register to go in.
11:23AM
MARC: One a-hole keeps rushing people. I let him go to the front. (Editor: People are starting to get rude.)
11:25AM
MARC: It's 11:25am. Have been standing in queue for almost half hour and have just made the one quarter mark. The entrance to the hall is the far end and I am standing in the queue with people of all age and types. Mostly teens and adults. Some (in) costume, some with Blythe dolls in hand. Can see the excitement. Some just joining to see the buzz and excitement.
11:33AM
MARC: I am now slightly one quarter. Come on the dot and found the queue loosing.
Slight confusion as if the queue was indeed for the 1st ever toy and comic convention in singapore. Say some had the registration slip and when asked was told some staff was handing it out. Nope nowhere in sight.
Guess I have to hope the queue I am in is the right one or tempers will flare
11:40AM
MARC: Its now 11.40am and they have just announced that there is now no queue and there is slight rush to go into the hall. Here I am pushing to go in.
11:53AM
(TRE-Correspondent 9 has arrived at the Con!)
9: They gave up crowd control, it's free for all entry now! Damn crowded with lots of armoured baby prams!
...........................REPORT ENDS...........................
Thanks to Marc for the blow-by-blow (who's now gone silent, guess the frenzy starts anew within the hall-aisles! LOL). My man 9 will be on the grounds before I make my way up to Suntec.
Drivers heading down to the Con to take note: Heard mention of a couple of road closures due of NDP rehearsals (*National Day Parade)
Man, I should be running a radio podcast instead ... well, who knows what the future of TRE lies, eh? hhmm...
