tre survival guide to stcc2008: what is
And since the Singapore Toy & Comic Convention is the first of it's kind in Singapore, there really isn't a set-precedence, much less a basis of comparison to overseas' Cons, yeh? (which of coz, it will be) ... But of course there are expectations ... and inevitably, "disappointments" - but we shall not go into that (until the Con post-mortem, 'natch) - instead, let us tackle how to enjoy or even "survive" the Con! And with only 24-days leading up to the Preview Night on June 27th (event-proper on 28th & 29th June weekend), there really isn't much time left, is there? LOL
And with that, I shall attempt to post/share some "How-To-Survive-The-Con"-Tips and Discussions (Singapore-Style) - specifically for folks attending the STCC (and yes, I can imagine some of you rolling your eyeballs bwahahahaha) - and if I read like a noob, tis because I AM - a "Convention-Noob", that is. So do feel free to offer advice, feedback and your own tips of survival as well. Any questions from folks coming to Singapore to attend the Con are welcomed as well.Look out for my first topic of discussion: Financial Transactions ~ *stay tuned* :)

Uber-fantastic Perez artwork on that stcc booklet....I'd stock up on one of those meself.
ReplyDeleteall I can advise for convention goings: have WAY MORE water at your immediate disposal to drink than you think you will need.
MarkQ
H2O is teh only way LOL
ReplyDeletebtw - the cover artists listed on the booklet was actually "Jerry Ng" - tis a homage, no doubt - featuring both DC and Marvel characters! i'd wanted to scan the entire wrap-around cover but am not too sure if the dude would appreciate that (NOT that i know he reads my blog tho LOL)
cheers MarkQ!
WOW, then "Jerry Ng" has got it going on! That's some serious pencil mad skillz!!
ReplyDeleteWOOT!
too true MarkQ - wish i knew who he was personally tho :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a convention either, but
ReplyDeletehere's what I remember others have told me :
Don't take more cash than you plan to spend,
otherwise you will spend it.
Take something that can carry your stuff
over long distances for long periods of time.
Something like airline luggage with rollers
works well - or - a good sized back pack.
Take something that you can read or
interact with to pass the time. Sometimes
you might be in a really long line for an
autograph or you're just waiting to meet up
with someone and they end up being late.
That's all I have to offer. Have fun and we'll
definitely look forward to reading your reports
of the whole event.
cheers for the tips, krakit!
ReplyDeleteand i'll try me best @ STCC :)))
