With all the staggering amount of products and toys local toymakers Play Imaginative have been producing thus far including their own Trexi-line and various designer vinyl figures featuring creations from Devilrobots, TOUMA, Tokidoki, Kenny Wong, Winson Ma and many others - finally there is one single place in Singapore where you could go both to and see them all, and sate your toy-retail needs - without having to attend a show or convention - at the newly opened The HIVE!

Currently housed within an unassuming freshly renovated space within Play Imaginative's new offices at Aljunied Road, Singapore, the main-floor is a showcase for all PI-products, displayed along an entire wall-space painted bright yellow, as well as their Dooperdoo line of designer apparels center-aisle and along the curtained-windows (Would love to see how it looks by the light of day too tho).
Eventual plans include providing the space with a more "chill out lounge"-atmos (would be greatly enhanced with couch seating, IMHO). I would personally recommend / suggest having distinct island-displays or shelf-space to showcase perhaps a particular artist "of the month" - including toys, artwork and write-ups of said designer. And having said designers/artists drop by for a meet-and-greet would be fab for local fans, IMHO :)
The Hive space will also serve as the main venue for product launches and The Hive Membership-related festivities and events [WHAT IS] including the launch of Devilrobots x Kenny Wong's MOLLY TOFU - STRAWBERRY and SON Versions come January 2009.
Boxes of 18-incher toys lead their way to a retail-corner at one end (where the Payment Counter/table is), which carried other brands' products as well - including Wonderwall's Kaiju For Grown Ups - most notably Joe Ledbetter's Hammerhead and Gamerita, as well as Phalanx's Smery ToFus.
Take your time to scan and scour thru the space from shelves to floor, for you might peep some surprises and previously released products. I will def try to pop by again one day to take a closer look myself! LOL
And while I'm frankly not too jazzed-up about the location of The Hive - accessibility hampered by my distinct slackness in traveling beyond my usual retail path/s (nestled within the industrial district of Aljunied/Macpherson Road) - I hope that it'll be a place for collectors to gather and talk and admire toys (and am always willing to grab a free ride from y'all! LOL)
