TOYSREVIL-Bootleg-Watch: Monster Speakers vs Headphonies
Spotted at an electronics store in Chinatown Point, Singapore: Eran Weinberg's Headphonies [blogged] side-by-side with "Monster Speakers"?! On display were 3 speakers that mimicked the form of Headphonies, and a display ad on the side that included Jeremiah Ketner's "Stargirl" in the line-up. I've not checked far enough to ascertain these are legit products tho ... CLICK THRU for more peeks to decide for yourselves.

FYI: Standing 3 inches tall, Headphonies are toy shaped portable mini speakers that are compatible with all iPod variations, and will also work with other MP3 and CD players, as well as computers and even certain cell phones. Headphonies have a SRP of US$30-per.
Nope, they're not original. I've contacted the factories that produce these in hopes of ordering in bulk, and asked if they were original Headphonies. Around three companies have admitted they aren't original Headphonies, but the quality is the same. Even their make is different: they're shiny, not matte, and they have an "on/off" switch under their foot.
ReplyDeleteHeadphonies are made in China so it's easy for many factories over there to copy the design.
