Toy-Release: Untitled New Sculpt by Dorcas Ng (June 1st-drop)

From the creator of pao comes a series of original sculpts (her first!) scheduled for debut and drop at Central Saint Martins Pop up shop, starting June 1st thru to 7th (10am-10pm). For this series, Dorcas Ng looked to one of the most popular clown-mascots in the world for inspiration. CLICK THRU to have an Exclusive First-Look Reveal of "Ronald McDonald" as a 4+ inch tall resin-cast multi-armed idol (literally), in a variety of different colored variants. (Price undetermined at time of blog-post.)

Dorcas share with us: "I used the idea of using the form of a toy as a platform to make a social comment. I worked on the theme of fast food and how the influence of McDonald’s around the world is such a phenomenon. Ronald McDonald, the mascot of McDonald’s, I will like to say, has become more than just a simple mascot or brand spokesperson but over time, has grown to become a likeable and trustworthy character, especially amongst children, whether he is worthy of it or not."

Dorcas adds: "Here, I portrayed Ronald as having the elevated status of an idol, referencing religious statues and their various postures. Incorporating the elements of the fast food restaurant, my figure is of Ronald posing like an idol, somewhat powerful yet calm in nature, as alike to idols people pray to."


Different treatments of the figure were achieved thru the use of spray paints, with a total of different variations available for sale:

1. glow in the dark (x 2 pcs)
2. metallic black (x 3 pcs)
3. metallic platinum (x 4 pcs)
4. metallic jade (x 3 pcs)
5. clear (x 3 pcs)
6. metallic black + metallic platinum (x 1 pc)
7. metallic platinum + metallic jade (x 1pc)
