About That "New" GATCHAMAN Animated Movie Teaser from Imagi

The sad+harsh reality is, animation company IMAGI is no more, and with that situation went the possibility of the CG-animated GATCHAMAN feature film ever going to hit the silver screens (but never say never...). Be that as it may, with repeated viewings of this "latest Teaser" (done before Imagi shut down), that reality seemed so distant, muted at the back of my mind, as I relished the trailer for what it was, and not what it would have been ....

CLICK THRU for select screengrabs (I couldn't resist) and check out the Imagi-website here to view it in higher-resolution (Go full-screen folks!) *le-sigh*

GATCHAMAN-STILL-02
Not so much clear grabs of Tiny, although his muscle-man routine surprisingly rocks!
GATCHAMAN-STILL-03
How can thou not swoon over Princess? Someone needs to cosplay her!
GATCHAMAN-STILL-04
Not so keen on Joe/Jason's double pistols tho ... but I suppose there's that demographic
to consider too. Well, no sense in him throwing feather-quills innit? Hhmmm ...
GATCHAMAN-STILL-05
The subtle relief of the uniform seams were an extremely nice touch and update, IMHO.
GATCHAMAN-STILL-06
By gawd an awesome landing sequence ~ Classic!
GATCHAMAN-STILL-07
Serious Goosepimplage withthis hero-shot as the invader crashes down behind them...
GATCHAMAN-STILL-08
Weirdly enough, Keyop not being able to eat his scoop of ice-cream was funny to me :p

"BONUS" VIDEO:
GATCHAMAN-STILL-OLD
Earlier incarnation of their uniforms looking more armored and hi-tech. Thank the
Anime Gawds they stuck to the classic lines but with a modern sensible update, IMHO!

  1. man, if only Pixar can get the rights to it. It would surely be stellar (ala Incredibles). ;)

  2. Did you see the NTT-branded one back in (I think) 2000? I liked it better, though it wasn't CG. I'll have to dig that one up. I get chills every time I watch it even with the crappy rez. Thanks for posting this, though--very interesting to see.

  3. This is cool but it doesn't quite have enough "weight" or danger in the fight scene. I guess I am spoiled by the same visuals from that NTT commercial mentioned above and of the OVA's that came out in the early nineties. Even the original production made you feel like these were lethal, swift science ninjas..
