Battle: Los Angeles & Launch of Viral Site "Unidentified Enemy"
In a celluloid nutshell, "Battle: Los Angeles" "is an upcoming 2011 science fiction film directed by Jonathan Liebesman, and starring Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Ne-Yo, and Bridget Moynahan. The film is set in modern day Los Angeles and follows a platoon of Marines and Airmen during a global alien invasion." [wiki / www.BattleLA.com]
Yes, both cliched plot and cheesy as heck - essentially this is everyone's fantasy / dread of an alien invasion - this time from the eyes of U.S. Marines - supped up to modern times, memory-inspiration by way of earlier invasion flicks like Independence Day, War of the Worlds, and even District 9 (Heck anything alien invasion in urban streets on Earth is game lol). And the trailer seen thus far, is breathless. Shown above is the recent Super Bowl TV Spot. CLICK THRU for full-on trailer, and hope that you'll love it as much as I did/do.
And while no doubt the movie will garner it's fair share of fist-pumping accolades on it's 3:11:11 premier henceforth, it is the launch of it's viral site for which this blogpost is primarily about: http://UnidentifiedEnemy.com/. [CLICK THRU for more]
Now, I am a pure sucker for online virals (Dark Knight, New Frontiersman, District-9 etc ~ you know hiw I feel about them = I heart them all), it was discovering the site while searching for alien transportation design and weaponry for the movie, that guided me to the site - which touts: "Visit the UNIDENTIFIED ENEMY site for priority access to the archive of declassified military data pertaining to the study of extraterrestrial life forms, alien physiology, and biomechanical weapon and propulsion systems."
And while I reckon there is nothing needed to be solved here (nothing's gonna stop the invasion innit? … unless …), there's plenty imagery and machinery to gawk at. I wonder who'll be picking up the merchandise on his flick tho? And some categories are still "locked", hence more to be revealed in time, as the days drag on closer to it's US premiere. Seems Singapore will get the show opening on March 17th instead.
For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world - Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's greatest cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It's up to a Marine staff sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before.
