3A-MONGROL-DARK

This has become "fact" rather than preview, so the Bambalandstore-edition BLACKHOLE MONGROL is posted here (instead of Upcoming Toys), in lieu of it's pending pre-order on Feb 28th at 9am Hong Kong time via Bambalandstore.com (and only via), and as well this is somewhat significant for me, as THIS is how I imagined Mongrol's colors to look like (compared to the colorful "Classic" one). The second 2000AD character figure to be produced and released by ThreeA Toys, MONGROL is tagged at US$250 per piece, inclusive shipping (prior to 3AA discount), with a tentative May 2011ship-out.

Reckless Toys have released their Toy Punks 8 inch tall vinyl figure made in Japan, currently available online here with a price-tag of US$99 (sans shipping). No quantities have been announced thus far, but the figure looks pretty cool from where I'm at. Designed by Mike Giant, here's a video snippet of the man, as seen in the toy-docu ToyPunks Vol.2.

BACKSTORY:
"Rotund Mk1 was a companion robot designed with small children in mind, playful and simple, yet robust enough to take anything a day's play could throw at him.

Rotund Mk2 was never intended as a replacement for the Mk2, but as a companion robot for the teenage years once the Mk1's childish charms had been outgrown. Still solidly built, this 4 foot sidekick had a knack for being able to vary roles on the fly through a swift head-swap or two. The classic see-through projection dome of the Mk1 endured, a teaching aid able to display holographic representations of the study material in question (or the latest holo-thriller if correctly "tweaked"). Some new additions included a friendly-faced companion head for fun times and hijinks and a stern, multi-spectral security head to monitor the halls or enforce a curfew. The latter also had some sweet wide-angled lenses perfect for shooting skate vids for HoloTube.

Rotund Mk2 came with these 3 heads as standard, but as the unit became popular, demand for varied and unique applications ensured some interesting models became available."

Loads of times, folks who won blog-contests are actually hesitant to properly snap pics of their prizes when asked, which most times is a waste, as I am constantly interested to see the toys "happy" in their new surrounding, as well lined up against other toys in the collection (I heart toy-shelve pics, don't you see?). Thankfully, James shares with us a snap of his winning "Angry Cuppa Tea" from Lunartik, for when I've had my blog-contest not too long ago ~ Much thanks, James!
