Living The TOYSREVIL Lifestyle (March/20/2011)

I have had numerous emails asking how to break into the toy industry, as well how to make a toy, or even get themselves into the scene. And as much as I try to reply all emails, most inevitably asks folks to seek out "design contests" held by brands and toy-makers. The chances and opportunity are available out there (not the money tho, money does not grow on toy-trees), tis up to yourself to make the most of it, and to manifest your ability and creativity.

One such contest happening now is MUGO with their "DISCOVER" Series, with the chosen design perhaps made into an actual product (not necessarily a "toy" per se, but you get the picture). Being made is great, but getting your style and name "out there" is just as important, IMHO.

Check out the submissions thus far on Mugo's Facebook album, and go download the template on www.mugoplayer.com.

There is a glaring unspoken distinction between a "designer" and a "customizer", IMHO. What I enjoy about this particular contest, is that folks are asked to design within the parameters of the form, not added accessories or alteration of it's form.
