Teaser Line-up of New Designer Toys from Plastic City (SDCC 2011 - Booth 4858)

And what we have here is a silhouette of a mountain man, a concert goer, a sextons lover, and a dude with multiple personalities (not necessarily in that order :p). Welcome the new line-up from a brand new designer toy-brand Plastic City! To make their debut at the coming San Diego Comic Con (Booth 4858) are brand new toys from Tristan Eaton, Jermaine Rogers, MCA and Josh Taylor. And while we are teased with their darkened-shapes above, here's a little Q&A I had with the folks at Plastic City, to help us ease into the news :)

TOYSREVIL: Why the name "Plastic City"? I like the vacation theme in your imagery and how it connects to toys, IMHO.

PLASTIC CITY: The Plastic City name actually came about after tossing the name around with some of our artists. We wanted to make this company a very open and artist friendly company so we included them in almost every step of the way. In fact Tristan Eaton did the design of the logo, and we thank him for that! We all agreed on the name cause it seemed to represent the idea of designer toys, a world made of plastic (and resin, wood, metal and about everything else now!). Plus we are bi-coastal, living in NYC and LA, so the City part seemed to fit naturally. Some would say both of those cities have their fake, Plastic, attributes. So it was born Plastic City, welcome!

TOYSREVIL: I smell a round of beers coming real quick too! Why this particular line-up of creators? What makes them special, to launch Plastic City with?

PLASTIC CITY: The line up was kinda special for us. We were drawn to Jermaine Roger's art and toys from the start, the Squire is one of our favorite figures. With Tristan it was a no brainer, he is great to work with and in our opinion created some of the brands and pieces that have shaped designer toys.

MCA we wanted to work with for his rebellious style and characters, they capture the spirit of true toys and a little bit of that punk rock feel we grew up on. Josh Taylor's art is amazing, and he was the missing piece of the puzzle, representing the illustrator that hasn't done designer toys.

We want to bring new life to the designer toy world and how better to do that than bring in new amazing artists and original pieces! So we chose the Rebel, the Standard Barer, the Wizard, and the Fresh Face.
