Custom-Feature: Drummy Munny by Gary Ham (and a Marching Band Clip from Thailand)
Artist Gary Ham customized a Munny named DRUMMY (say that three times fast) and sent it in for the recent MUNNYWORLD MEGACONTEST and had just been announced to have won for BEST MUNNY! (Congrats, Gary!).
Gary shares with us snaps and of course I had to bug him for words! And don't you think Gary should make an entire marching band filled with custom-Munnys? I do :)
TOYSREVIL: What inspired the design of Drummy? What inspires you in general?
GARY HAM: I've been wanting to do a drummer boy design for awhile now and the Munny platform suited it best and it just happens the MUNNYWORLD MEGACONTEST was in effect. I find marching bands and their uniform designs fascinating and the movie Drumline wasn't completely unwatchable if I've watched it more than a couple times. Now can I hear some "Flight of the Bumblebee?" :P
While all I could find was this on youtube (yes, you too need to do a Munny with a Trombone, Gary!), I'll wrap-up this post instead with a video-grab of School Marching bands spotted on the streets of Bangkok, Thailand circa 2010 (the first day of CLEA) with my fav track from them! Can you recognize the tune? Rock-On, Thailand!
Apologies as I did not have my proper video-cam with me, and instead had my digital-camera grabs with 10+over seconds recording capabilities instead. [More tagged
