Super-VIllains of the East x West
The primary difference between Western and Eastern cartoon/anime villains are: one is hell-bent on domination (of Earth or any other planetoid, and everything beyond), and the other; "misunderstood intentions".
Western cartoon characters go at it with good-n-bad scenarios simply played out in black-n-white - like Skeletor, Mumm-Ra, Ming The Merciless, Megatron - they just simply want to rule everyone (and crush everyone else who oppose them), while Tetsuo, Ghost, Father, Freezer, and near most anime-folks have most times even perceived as flawed characters with "misguided intentions" (or otherwise pure evilness), and frankly, sometimes not as clear-cut as their western counterparts.
Of course to be utterly fair, everyone's story and circumstance are different - as much as the difference in cultural backgrounds and traditions - but why do they always fail? Well, because - as Dr Evil once stated; "I am surrounded by freaking' idiots!" - yes that's right, tis because of the ineptness of the hired-help that thwarts any and all schemes to fail and fall-flat on their fictional-faces! Okay, so maybe the individuals or a group of folks we commonly term as "Heroes" or "Superheroes" - might have something to do with it all … gosh we need better villain-help trainers than Taskmaster, huh? Is there no proper academy to train assistant-Villains? If you realize, Villains more often have more money and resource at their disposal, East or West! LOL
The fictional aspect of Villainy is indeed clear-cut to be easily recognized. Do bad things to other people (especially innocent peeps) at their expense and at your own leisure, and you are a bad person. Do bad things to other people and laugh about it, you are a madman. Do something to EVERYONE at your own leisure and interest, laugh about it manically, and you are a Villain. And if you have super-inhuman powers beyond mortal-ken? The you are a Super-Villain, and the world is for your taking!
Regardless of intentions, tis not about "whose villain is better than whom" -as none of their aims are toward benefitting mankind, and as such are labeled as "Villains", is that fair? We just want better for the world, under our rule, of course!
