MaxToyCo-Monday: Toy Review of Lady Maxx by Mark Nagata x Max Toy Co

LADY-MAXX-MAXTOYCO-01

TOY-STORY: This is a painted Green US edition Fully painted soft vinyl of Lady Maxx currently available here for US$40.00 per (sans shipping)

Cast in flesh vinyl by Shimizu-san, the figurine utilizes the skills of master paint mask makers, and features over 15 paint masks to achieve the look. According to the website description, each figure using the masks are painted in Japan by hand.

Lady Maxx is the big sister to Captain Maxx (who in lieu is available as both a Mini Kauji Figure and an enlarged classic-sofubi styled articulated figure).

I like the header-tag for Lady Maxx. The text (tho small) is in black, and the info contained includes website and even twitter -which to me is a great promo concept and everyone should consider doing this too.

I have been gagging for Lady Maxx for a long while now - seeing her in a variety of colorways but always a tad too slow to order before she gets sold out. Currently unto her Purple-Green EVA-themed color-scheme, this is the Yellow-Green U.S. colorway before that release.

Lady Maxx as a Mini Kauju Figurine is simply adorable - clad in a swimsuit-superheroine suit the sexiest I've ever seen this part of the world or next, Lady Maxx is like a cosplay-dream come true unto toy-form, and I proudly claim my Otakuness with this exclamation! One look at the "behind" of Lady Maxx, and you might need a twin-ply tissue or two to contain your justified nosebleeds.

Possessing a single point of articulation at the neck region, Lady Maxx comes with a single painted vinyl body and two headsculpts - one of her in her helmet, and the other a big-eyed-cutey unmistakably from the realms of anime and manga-dom, as awesomely designed by Mark Nagata. (I am very literal with the use of the word "awesome" here as I am smitten to toy-death her lol).

One trick tho - the neck-joint for the figure is waaaay huge for the post, so if you intend to pop a head out and put in another, try a hairdryer on the stem to soften it. I have not been able to do so as I do not have a hairdryer warm enough to do so, so my diminutive beauty is (and has been) headless for sometime … I know, I 'suck'.

An additional "minus" for me, is that although you can stand and balance Lady Maxx quite decently without much effort, she is a self-diver given the chance. The area of stability is just not present given her form - which is not a problem at all given a small glob of blue-tac or temporary adhesive. And with that, she is 'perfect'! Desirable? Yes.
