Attendee Artwork @ Anime Festival Asia 2011

An interesting aspect of the recently concluded Anime Festival Asia (www.animefestival.asia) were the exhibitor partition walls filled with Post-Its with anime-drawings (which adorned the exhibition paneled walls in the arena of the Canon display arena) - in a parallel to "Grafitti Walls" from toy-cons, and like this year's STGCC, the artwork were from the attendees! (Subsequently after snapping these images, MUCH MORE drawings were brought in and pasted on the walls).

What I liked about this notion, was that folks had chosen to participate in this, and had taken the effort to use Post-Its (as opposed to permanent stick-ons) - a very conscientious effort, methinks - and worthy of praise. These are not the "irresponsible" kids folks seem to like to label these days!

What would have been extremely rewarding, would be that established artists could even quietly contribute some drawings to the group, without folks ever knowing who did want! If you found it, liked it, bring it home! I would've gamely added in a TOYSREVIL-anime character into the mix LOL (but yes, that would have been a tad too OTT-PR, I reckon :p).

You cannot even pay money for this kind of "interaction", IMHO.

And have you ever wondered what happens to these drawings AFTER the event? Does it matter? You've had your moment of fame amongst a sea of like-minded contributors and hobbyists (both "tourist" and fanatical), and I reckon that is an awesome feeling enough :)
