Seen @ DesignerCon 2011
DesignerCon [www.designercon.com] is getting it's fair share of online-coverage, and as events happen one after another, folks know what it takes to cover the event, and we are all not left wanting to see a slice of what had happened two Saturdays ago, on November 5th. Posted here are but a sprinkling of event images from a variety of sources that had crossed my online path (and gods bless you folks for the headsup!).
Dr Sketchy holds court with their Steampunk-inspired Victorian model on stage for artist-enthusiasts. Nice one this. Wish I could hare with you folks ALL the sketches done for this cycle! I like this concept where people produce their own imagery, rather than just the buy-buy-buy-mentality of most everything else. (Image via Hamlatul Arsy)
Hyperactive Monkey wows with their 3-feet tall build of the venerable Shaolin Monk, while Squid Ink Kids showcases their plush and vinyl, and their 10 D'OH figure, and a new cassette-tape figurine. (Images via Hamlatul Arsy).
Eric Frank aka ToyGodd snapped over 1100 images of DesignerCon - viewable on AFTimes.com - these are just a few select ones which caught my eye:
I am visually drawn to this deformed grotesque bunny from Cam Leon x Cherry Vinyl - having first featured it here, now "seeing" display pics is a treat. Gotta lure that 'fold', folks! muahahahaha
A collabo featuring the talents of DrilOne x Jay222 seen here in multiple colorways and editions. I wonder how big these are tho…
Paul Kaiju shows off one of his ladies. I've always liked his works but can never seem to have timely info about them. Nevertheless, folks are encouraged to stake out his website and Flickr.
These Wabbit from Bugs and Plush reminds me loads of the MaskBear - but then again perhaps tis the 'ears' more than anything else. Nice spread of figurines tho.
Not wholly sure but looks to be Treebeard and his fellow Ents are attacking Isengard and storming Saruman's tower in this LEGO build of Lord of the Rings? Nice! (Image via Hamlatul Arsy) Strong appearance of the LEGO plastic block hobby seen at DCon, including the speed-build below too:
LEGO Star Wars 10221 Super Star Destroyer Speed Build from Bricks to Bothans and The LEGO Group. 'The five-man team consisted of Brandon Griffith, Remi Gagne, Tommy Williamson, Guy Himber, and myself, Ace Kim. This is the first known attempt to speed build the set, setting the world record at 1:31:38.'
